Trustee Theresa McNicol’s Easter Message

April 2017

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.

John 11:25-26

For forty days in Lent, we listen to the word of God more attentively and spend more time in prayer and penance as we seek forgiveness and transformation. At the York Catholic District School Board, we are committed to developing school communities formed by Catholic beliefs and traditions that enable all members of our learning community to engage in their personal faith journey.

During this Lenten Season, our schools demonstrate what it means to live the Gospel by putting our Catholic faith into action. Students and staff reflect on Christ’s Passion and His greatest gift to us, His Resurrection.

We are truly blessed with the gift of publicly-funded Catholic education.  It is inspiring to witness our school communities come together through masses, liturgies, charitable endeavours and other Lenten activities, as we prepare for the Resurrection of our Saviour.

Easter is not only the most important holy day in the Christian calendar, but it is also the central tenet of our Catholic faith.  Through His Resurrection, Jesus gave us the promise of new life, both in Heaven and on Earth.   As we look ahead to celebrating the resurrection of our Lord, I wish you and your families the blessings of the Easter season.

Happy Easter!
