Christ is born for us, let us rejoice in the day of our salvation! Let us open our hearts to receive the grace of this day, which is Christ himself. Jesus is the radiant “day” which has dawned on the horizon of humanity. A day of mercy, in which God our Father has revealed his great tenderness to the entire world. A day of light, which dispels the darkness of fear and anxiety. A day of peace, which makes for encounter, dialogue and, above all, reconciliation. A day of joy: a “great joy” for the poor, the lowly and for all the people. Pope Francis Christmas Message, 2015
Dear Parents and Guardians: Students and staff in our schools are enthusiastically preparing for the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, through a variety of activities, special events, and coursework. Our Catholic schools provide all the members of our Catholic learning communities with a wonderful opportunity to reflect together on the true meaning of Christmas. We are reminded of our commitment to care for the poorest and the neediest among us, as students and families proudly live their faith by participating in a wide variety of charitable initiatives. I am so proud of the great work being done for our communities and sincerely thank all of you for giving so generously during this advent season. I would also like to say thank you for the amazing support and guidance that we receive from our spiritual leaders and parish partners both during advent and all year long. As your School Trustee, I also thank you for choosing Catholic education. Your support for Catholic Education is a blessing that allows our students and staff to grow in the light of Christ, and to recognize that God is with us, always. May you enjoy good health and happiness during the Christmas break, and may the spirit of Christmas fill your hearts and homes with peace and joy as you rejoice in our Saviour’s birth.
I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
